Building Performance Evaluation (BPE)

Buildings don’t always perform as intended. Once in use, they may consume more energy than predicted, struggle to maintain comfort, or experience indoor air quality problems. BPE closes this gap by testing and monitoring how buildings actually behave: during construction, at handover, and throughout operation.

Applying BPE early helps identify and manage risks before they become embedded. In occupied buildings, ongoing evaluation supports strategies to reduce energy use, improve comfort, and verify that systems are delivering as designed.

Our approach combines a range of techniques, tailored to client needs and budgets, including:

  • Design and construction (site inspection) audits – site inspections to check performance objectives are being met.
  • Building fabric testing – airtightness testing, in-situ U-value measurements, and thermographic surveys.
  • Ventilation airflow performance measurements
  • Monitoring of comfort and air quality
  • Energy analysis: benchmarking and detailed audit surveys
  • Occupant engagement – structured interviews and feedback to capture user experience and identify improvements.

If you’d like to better understand your building’s performance and the practical steps to improve it, we’d be happy to discuss your requirements.
